FREE FOOD BAG CALCULATOR · DOGS & CATS

Food bag calculator

Enter the bag weight and your current daily use to find how many days it will last. Use grams, or cups with this food’s grams per cup.

How long will this bag last?

Use your current daily amount. This estimates supply, not a feeding amount.

01 · Food in the bag

Use the food’s net weight, not the container’s advertised capacity. Enter numbers without commas; use 1.5 for one and a half. Changing units clears this amount.

02 · Current daily use

Combine all meals and all pets sharing this food. Use the daily amount you already feed; ask your veterinarian if unsure. Use 1.5 for one and a half. Changing units clears this amount.

A CLEARER REFILL PLAN

Two amounts.
One useful estimate.

Enter the bag weight and current daily use, then calculate. If you use cups, add this food’s grams per cup.

A REASON TO COME BACK

Choose a day to check your food supply.

Pick a day to look at the food you have left and revisit your estimate. You choose the date; the calculator does not predict when to reorder.

Choose today or a date within the next 365 days. This is a supply check, not a freshness deadline or feeding recommendation.

Open the .ics file in your calendar and set any alerts there. PetCheck sends no email or push notification. Changing or removing this date does not update an imported event. Save keeps one date on this browser; clearing browser data removes it.

MAKE IT FIT YOUR HOUSEHOLD

The bag you have. The amount you use.

Can I use a bag that is already open?

Yes. Weigh the food remaining, leaving out the bag or container, and enter that amount in Bag weight. Use your current daily amount to estimate supply from today. For example, 1,200 g remaining at 200 g/day gives 6 days; these are example amounts, not a feeding recommendation.

What if two or more pets share the bag?

Add the amount of this food used by all of them each day, including any of it used as treats. Enter that combined amount once. For example, 120 g and 80 g total 200 g/day. If they eat different foods, calculate each food separately.

Can I reuse a grams-per-cup value from another food?

Use the value for the exact recipe on its label or from its manufacturer. A cup of another food can weigh a different amount. If you cannot confirm this recipe’s value, weigh the daily food and choose g/day instead of guessing a conversion.

THE ARITHMETIC, IN VIEW

Food weight ÷ daily use = days of supply.

Use the same unit for both amounts. The calculator converts kilograms or pounds to grams before dividing. For cups, enter the grams per cup for this exact food.

WORKED EXAMPLE6,000 g ÷ 200 g/day = 30 days

Example amounts only. They are not a feeding recommendation.

The estimate describes the quantity entered. It does not count remaining stock automatically or establish a freshness deadline. Update the inputs when the food or daily use changes.
